Mentor, Centre for Data, Learning and Decision Sciences, Ashoka University Climate Scientist; Theodore Y. Wu Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering, California Institute of Technology
Tapio Schneider is a climate scientist and Theodore Y. Wu Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering at California Institute of Technology. Tapio specializes in climate research and mentoring the next generation of scientists to become leaders in this critical field. His research has contributed to understanding how rainfall extremes change with global warming, how changes in cloud cover can affect climate stability, and how atmospheric dynamics on planetary bodies such as Earth, Jupiter, and Titan operate. He is leading the Climate Modeling Alliance (CliMA), a multi-institutional consortium of scientists, applied mathematicians, and software engineers united in the goal of developing the first climate model that learns directly from diverse data. This model aims to provide accurate climate predictions to assist in mitigating and adapting to future climate changes.
